Professional Development

We teach proven systems approaches and intervention methods that form a comprehensive toolkit for a practitioner addressing complex dynamic situations. Applied together, a practitioner can use different approaches across different cycles of an intervention, triangulate methods and models to test the robustness of any proposed intervention, and plan and execute the actions necessary to achieve large-scale transformational change.

Tutors are expert practitioners from SCiO and elsewhere, each with decades of experience in applying the subjects they teach. They have collectively trained over ten thousand people in systems thinking to masters level, written 23 books on systems thinking and practice, and developed four out of the five systems approaches established over the past 20 years

Systems Thinking Practice

SCiO offers training courses in how to practice a number of Systems Thinking approaches. These methods or methodologies may be used, in any conjunction, as part of a systemic inquiry into a problematic situation.

The courses currently cover nine of the thirteen approaches in the SCiO Competency Framework,:  Confrontation Analysis (CONAN), Critical Systems Heuristics (CSH), INFORMED Group Dynamics, Mosaic Transformation & Bubble Strategy, Multi-methodology, Patterns of Strategy (PoS)Soft Systems Methodology (SSM)System Dynamics (SD) (incl. Causal Loop mapping), and the Viable System Model (VSM). Emboldened courses are multi-day.

Additionally courses are available on the Systems Laws - (see the Grammar of Systems)
