Self-organising beings: the art and practice of embodied wisdom

Septiembre 2024

We are by nature complex self-organising beings, situated within a universe organised in the same way. This has profound implications for how we could potentially organise society, our organisations, and our lives. Systemic practice calls us to attend not just to the systems out there, but also to ourselves, so we can effectively leverage our embodied wisdom towards desired change. This session draws on Kathia Laslo’s idea that an expanded sense of self and knowing that we are dependent not just on each other, but on the plants, animals, earth and sky, ancestors and descendants that we share this world with. We will use Varela’s three gestures of awareness, to explore shifting places where we and the systems we seek change in get stuck. This session will also draw on the presencing work of Arawana Hayashi and include theory and some hands on practice, that supports attention to what Bateson refers to as the difference that makes a difference.
