System Dynamics

introduction (SD1 - 1d)

£200 pre-recorded Peter Lacey
System Dynamics (SD) is the use of working, quantified simulation models that replicate the causal structure and time-behaviour of the organisation, function or issue of concern. Effectively a “digital twin” of that enterprise or issue, an SD model makes explicit why past performance has followed the path that it has, projects likely future performance, and enables testing of alternative scenarios

Why Practice Systems Thinking?

The world around us is full of complexity, from the environment, to our workplaces to our own bodies. Systems thinking equips you with a framework to understand these complexities and navigate them more effectively.

Systems thinking helps you tackle complex problematic situations: Many situations we face have interconnected causes and effects. By seeing the bigger picture and the relationships within a situation, you can identify patterns, causal mechanisms, structures, power, and dynamics. This allows you to design changes that address the system as a whole, rather than just treating symptoms.

Psychological safety as a systemic construct: implications for social services

Psychological safety—feeling safe to be oneself, take risks, and speak candidly—has been predominantly instrumentalised as a tool for driving innovation and profit in organisations. This presentation argues for a fundamental shift in perspective: feeling safe is a basic human right, not merely a means to an end. The current focus on staff dynamics often overlooks service recipients, creating an...
