Introducing OrgLens, a systems-based health check for organisations

October 2026

Most organisations I work with know something isn’t quite right. The same problems keep coming back, people in different parts of the organisation describe them differently, and there’s no budget for a consultant to tell them what they already half know.

So I’ve built OrgLens: a free, open source health check for your organisation.

OrgLens is a tool which asks several people in an organisation, separately, how things work. It then models what they say three ways: a VSM diagnosis, causal loops and system archetypes, and a SSM / CSH look at whose purposes count and who isn’t in the room.

How it works:
1. You describe your organisation in your own words: what you do, who does what, and what isn’t working.
2. You invite two or more colleagues to do the same, separately. Nobody else can read anyone’s answers.
3. OrgLens writes a short, plain-English report: what’s working, what keeps happening and why, where people see things differently, who isn’t in the room, and what to talk about at your next meeting.

Behind the scenes it draws on Stafford Beer’s Viable System Model (VSM), feedback loops, and Soft Systems Methodology (SSM). You never see jargon in the report, and every quote in it is checked against what people actually wrote.

The output is a plain-English report with no jargon, where every quote is checked against what someone actually wrote.
