Network Analysis and Boundary Critique

September 2026

We’re exploring how graph databases and network analysis can be used to explore the boundary of a system of interest with specific reference to one of our current projects that aims to bring together organisations working on regenerative initiatives in Plymouth. At present we are looking to expand this project to other areas and as a data company we’re keen to understand what additional tools and support we could give to potential hosts so that they might accelerate their efforts.  This rapid, interactive session would comprise a brief introduction to graph databases and our project before opening up for participants to help us explore the topic more thoroughly. We would hope that attendees would identify new opportunities to apply data modelling techniques in boundary critique.  Growing with Nature - a collaboration between Food Plymouth, The Data Place, Plymouth City Council and Plymouth Octopus Project - aims to bring together community gardeners, orchard maintainers, rewilding projects, community arts organisations, and local allotment associations to regenerate the green spaces in the city, in the process forming a strong voice to advocate for the city’s natural landscapes. There are currently over 200 projects signed up to a prototype directory. An early map of these can be found at https://growingwithnature.info.
